Unhappy Leaky Acrylic Bong

I just recently bought a new acrylic bong, and while it hits like a champ, I've noticed that it begins leaking after a long session, or even just during regular use. I took the base off, and found that it was the bottom cap that seems to be causing the problem. It's not very air tight, and there are no sealants around it.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to a permanent fix. I thought about melting a candle around the base to seal it, but I wasn't quite sure if that would really do the job.

It was only a $30 bong, but I'm a poor high school student, so I just don't have the funds for a nicer glass one. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm, do you have any caulking around your house? You know the stuff around the bathroom sink to keep it watertight? If so a small ammount around the cap might do it, just make sure its 100% dry before you try using it again.

Plumbing Repair Guide: How To Use Teflon Tape - ACME HOW TO.com

Plumbers tape. Follow those instructions (substituting "pipe" for "bong") and you'll be fine.

I'd go with what idea Trocisp provided.

I would avoid melting the candle, especially if you were planning on doing it inside the bong. The heat would warp the bong and give off nasty fumes.

If neither of those methods work, as a last ditch effort I would seal the base of the bong with some sort of adhesive. However having a removable base to a bong is rather handy when it comes to clean-up time.

Thanks a lot for the help, guys! I seem to remember seeing some Teflon tape downstairs. I hadn't thought to use it on a bong, though.
