Yes much bigger. The smoke is much smoother, so you can get much more in your lungs at one time. They are great.

bongs have a much bigger chamber than a hand pipe allowing them to give you a much bigger hit... be careful tho.. massive bong hits are not for novice smokers and can be dangerous

Very true. Take too big of a hit and you will be coughing your brains out for a good 5 minutes.

Keep in mind that it's still pretty relative. To fill a bong chamber it takes a lot more weed than just a pipe chamber. You get bigger hits, but less of them. A bowl in my pipe will last a good 6 hits or whatnot, but for my bong the same amount of weed takes me one maybe two big hits.

Bongs give you bigger hits because you're burning up a lot of weed very quickly. I prefer to burn the same amount of weed more slowly, getting the same amount of THC, without coughing up a lung.

So, whether smoke via bong, pipe, joint etc the same amount of the same kind of herb will give you the same high...just not as big "hits"?

Well I don't know about anyone here but my friend has a homemade G.B. made from on of the (very) large gatorade containers, and he says it gets him ripped from just 2 hits and packs 1/2 of normal bowl. So for the amount of 1 bowl, he gets ripped...though he does only smoke headies... Who knows.

No. The rate at which you get the cannabinoids into your system has an effect on the quality of the high. I think the reason a lot of people like bongs and other high-volume means of smoking is that the sudden elevation in blood cannabinoids produces a huge rush, a few seconds of overwhelming "high". They're willing to trade the discomfort of coughing up a lung for the pleasure of the rush.
