So, I've recently bought a bong (will post pictures later ) and I don't have a grinder. I've been really annoyed with breaking apart my weed, as it is sticky, I lose some of the crystals on my fingers and it's time consuming when really I just want to smoke the stuff not play with it! Is it necessary to break up the weed when smoking out of a bong? I mean towards the end I'm just gonna burn and the rip the shit out of it anyway so I know I'm getting it all.

In bong bowls, break it up or just break off a chunk and pop it in the bowl?

I prefer to break it up, it allows me to 'milk' the bong better. Otherwise I don't have as much surface area and I just continuously torch the bowl until it's gone. Honestly, I'd invest in a grinder...

I grind everything. It burns so much more evenly, cherries better, etc. When I just " rip and stuff" the bowl doesn't burn nearly as evenly, and generally takes more effort. I'd rather just grind it and be done. I even grind a decent amount at a time...a couple grams or so....so I won't have to worry about it later...don't worry, it gets smoked way too fast for it drying too much to be a concern!

Usually i just pop a nug in. But for joints and vape, i use a grinder.
If you don't want to rip weed apart, but like it fine, just get a grinder.

always worth your time to break it down into the tiniest pieces you can- the smaller the pieces, the more airflow the bowl will allow, which will burn the weed better and cherry it a lot faster, plus it will burn evenly.

i am one to advocate the use of a grinder before you smoke, no matter what vessel you smoke in- even a cheap, 10 dollar grinder from a gas station will suffice if you are tight on cash.

My roommate used to have a grinder so I got accustomed to having one and now that I don't it's just a pain. I went to sugar daddies here in Boston but they didn't have any displayed and I didn't feel like asking. Maybe next time!

Last week, I realized just how "grinder dependant" I am. I went to visit my sis in law and her fiance in Colorado, and when I got there, they mentioned they had misplaced their grinder. I thought "no big deal" but after loading all of two or three bowls, off to the headshop I went! Even a 5 dollar plastic grinder beats "hand cleaning". (My grinder addiction runs deep...I also bought plastic grinders months ago for my friends, because I hated the fact they didn't have one for me to use!)

As long as the bowl hole isn't to big you should be good grinding it up. I grind up mine all the time.

Burns perfectly because of the increased surface area.

i always break my bud up, it burns a lot better and you can remove even the tiniest leaves and stems, keep the leaves and stems until you got a couple grams and make honey oil, you'll have enough to f#ck you up a couple times, the handgrenade method is easiest

In my early smoking years i never used a grinder and always thought it was a pain breaking it all up. I was then introduced to the grinder and wont leave my house without that baby now
