The well-documented Jerome Simpson saga reached its final chapter today with NFL gestapo Roger Goodwell handing Simpson a three-game suspension to start the 2012 NFL season. The punishment was doled out, not coincidentally, the same day that Simpson agreed to a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
Simpson’s violation of the league’s substance abuse policy occurred when he was on the receiving end of a package from California that shipped 2 pounds of bud to the receiver’s home in Kentucky. While it’s lovely Simpson (aka the human trampoline) found a new home in Minnesota, the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers would have been much better suited for Simpson’s off-field hobby.
Fortunately, Michael Beasley should be able to direct him to the finest homegrown bud the state has to offer.
