Children of the 90s grew up with a steady diet of shows like Family Matters, Full House, and, of course, Saved By The Bell. Sadly, none of these coming-of-age sitcoms prepared or even warned us about the prevalence of marijuana in high school.
If there’s one complaint to levy against a show like Saved By The Bell, it’s that the show never even touched upon the counter-culture movement of the 90s. Instead, the show–which we mainly watched reruns of on Nickelodeon–portrayed the stereotypes of the jock, the nerd, and the player to perfection.
Quite frankly, I can’t even recall the “College Years” version of the show ever showing pot smoke or beer funnels. When Jimmy Fallon reunited the gang on Tuesday night, he sadly did not add any weed to the mix.
But it’s still a time capsule back to the 90s when MTV played music videos and weed was just called weed. And it’s seriously amazing how little the cast has aged:[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MftOONlDQac?list=UU8-Th83bH_thdKZDJCrn88g]
Note: Screech is ominously absent from this reunion because, well, he’s gone off the deep end.
