Trump’s Wall Spells Certain Extinction for the Mexican Weed Cannon

11

Today, during a visit to the Department of Homeland Security, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to begin construction of a physical wall along the southern border of the United States.

“Beginning today, the United States of America gets back control of its borders,” proclaimed the president in his address to gathered press and attendees at DHS.

Throughout the presidential campaign, where Trump frequently promised the wall would be built, many detractors questioned the financial viability and diplomatic ramifications of strengthening the border in such a way. For anyone wondering whether or not the wall would become a reality, President Trump left little doubt during today’ statement.

“The Secretary of Homeland Security, working with myself and my staff, will begin immediate construction of a border wall,” Trump said.

While the stated intent of the border wall is to contain immigration issues, its construction is likely to impact many areas.

Adios Cannabis Cannon

As the reality of a massive border structure separating the United States from Mexico inches closer, we may be witnessing the extinction of the vehicle-mounted weed cannon, a not-so-modern marvel in marijuana distribution.

As security tightened after 9/11 and traditional methods of smuggling marijuana through the border check points became increasingly difficult, some traffickers “got creative.”

In 2012, an abandoned Jeep was found atop the border fence in California after smugglers tried to use makeshift steel ramps to drive over the barrier.

As ramps proved ineffective — not every idea is a good one — cannabis runners started to think in more aerial terms.

For years, stories would pop up here and there about automobile-fitted catapults and cannons shooting hundreds of pounds of cannabis over the border into the United States.

ABC News – Border Patrol agents say they believe a pneumatic cannon was used to launch dozens of containers of marijuana over the border and 500 feet into Arizona on Friday. Eighty-five pounds of marijuana — tucked into soup cans and then inserted into larger sealed containers — were found in a field near the Colorado River in San Luis, Arizona.

They shoot packaged marijuana up and over the border, far enough away from the barricade that an accomplice can often retrieve the black market shipment without raising suspicion from Border Patrol. But that was with a measly fence protecting the United States from projectile pot packages, not the ‘Great (Again) Wall’ that’s been proposed.

Smugglers on the Mexican side of the border have proved they can adapt to tougher security; only time will tell what kind of technology they utilize next.

As the wall gets higher, so must the cannabis.

In 2015, a drone was observed drop shipping a package containing marijuana and other contraband over a highly secure prison wall in Ohio, where inmates fought over the fresh deliveries and were subsequently all caught red-handed.

  1. Only a fool would interpret President Trumps refererences to a “wall” literally. This guy navigated through a labyrinth of New York city air rights and zoning restrictions while accumulating land rights and options on various parcels of property. Eventually, he built edifices that few of us would even dream of. Like his buildings or not, HE GOT IT DONE! EVERY “expert” said it couldn’t be done. He did it. He assembled a Team of enlightened pros, and accomplished his goals. Sure, he experienced some failures. Let’s not forget, the only folks who never experience failure are the folks who never had the guts to go out on a limb and attempt to achieve their dreams.

My interpretation? Dream BIG! TRY. Get off your ass and make a difference! Do something…

Regarding Mexican skunk weed? Who cares…

Sieg Heil! Follow the Leader. When the time comes, turn in your spouse, family, friends, and casual acquaintances, so the Drug Warriors can “get the job done!” You are so totally fooled, you’ve bought the con and drunk the kool aid. When they have finished with the Mexicans, the blacks, the sexual nonconformists, the labor organizers, the Indians, the weed-smokers . . . and then it’s your turn . . . don’t expect anyone to care. You asked for this Brave New World, you think it’s what you want, and in five or ten years you can remember this reply and kick yourself. In the meantime, have fun kicking all those who can’t or kick back.

      • Oliver Steinberg, that is delusional kooky talk. Trump is much more likely to either further the controlled legalization, but with actual Federal support, OR if he goes the less-regulatory route, he may even decriminalize. — But seriously, all the b.s. Hitler references are way beyond “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” already. It just makes the Leftists look nuts and like nothing they say can be trusted or taken seriously.

    • Who knows what Trump is thinking ,if he can think this last weekend make me wonder, he does things on the spur of the moment.
Any way a cannon or even a trebuchet would still be able to get product over a wall. Trumps ideas are medieval.

      • Catapults are medieval; in failing to take them into account, Trump is displaying “stone age” thinking, not medieval.

  2. In this day and age we know, at least people that like history know, that what ever the mind of man can conceive the mind of another man can over come.
Trumps favorite general Patton himself said that walls of any kind can no longer stop anyone with modern equipment and arms.
Trumps wall is impotent just like he is.

Please, PLEASE, let there be somebody who is trying to get President Trump to DE-CRIMINALIZE!

Remove Cannabis from the list of Schedule One drugs and decriminalize. A maverick like Trump is just the one to look at the evidence and just DO it. Oh! And, he needs to expand the government research on it. Various cancer survivors keep saying, “Someone please study this plant!”

There could be a series of walls then, and so what. You could legally grow it as a hedge at your house then. Wow, imagine that. Hedges, bonsai, shaped bushes like animals, topiaries; all out of cannabis.

  4. The fake president’s wall is a fantasy. The estimates are 21 billion to build that means about 40 billion for cost over runs. The republicans are not likely to cough up any money for all of Trump’s fantasies. They can’t even figure out how to pay for Trumps brand new military at another 54 billion.over currant budget.
It will really be interesting to see how they react to the entire budget.
